Classic Car Run

Full Chat – September 2024

Welcome to this month’s Full Chat

We had some members out on the WAC/CCC Debden Targa Rally 1st Sept David Smalley was on driving and navigating duties, from the driving point his car broke a drive shaft on test 1, David had better luck navigating for Luke Alan they had a great finish of 5th O/A and 1st in class in the Interclub category.

Mathew Smalley was navigating for Gary White but retired at MTC3.

In the clubman’s Category Hugh Garnish finished 7th O/A and 6th in class, while David W Ottoway on his first Targa Rally with David J Ottoway navigating enjoyed his drive finishing 12 O/A and 7th in class he is looking forward to doing more Targa’s soon.

Well done to Freddie Hewitt who won the R56 Class in the Mini Challenge series, a great result.

Following on from that on 6th Sept we had our 3rd Classic Car Run out, a great turn out with a variety of cars for the Right Royal Run. Starting from Kim Cairns at Snettisham and making our way through the West Norfolk countryside ending up at the King Charles III pub in Sporle, with a nice meal to finish the evening off. Well done Duncan and Marian for a well organised event.

On the 8th Sept we had a club stand on the Tuesday Market Place for the Classic Car Day with 7 cars on the stand to promote the club. There was around 200 Classic’s on show and some very nice cars there, well worth a look again next year.

Our next event is the Karting evening on 18th with 12 teams fighting it out in a 1hr race, it should be fun.

Then we will be attending the Hunstanton Soap Box Derby, with 3 teams doing Scrutineering and marshals doing timing at the start and finish, we will also have a club stand with 5 cars on show, please come and say hello.

We still have space for our Autumn Treasure Hunt and bbq on 29th Sept please contact Mark Banham: mbanham@h.banham.co.uk.

Our next 12 car rally will be on 16th October organised by Paul Haylock contact him paulnhaylock@btinternet.com he is still looking for entries and marshals.

Hope to see you all out and about on some of the up-and-coming events.

Cheers

Dave
