We kicked off this month with our karting evening on 18th September, it was a great turn out with 13 teams competing over the 1hr race, with some enthusiastic racing all the way down the order. Well done to Ed Haylock who got fastest lap 46.079 on lap 65, a great evening was had by all.

Followed on 22nd with Hunstanton Soap Box Derby, 56 teams competed throughout the day. A dry morning then the rain came in the afternoon to make for some interesting racing in the wet. We had six cars on the club stand for people to look round during lunch break and ask questions about the club, we also had 3 teams doing scrutineering in the morning and marshals doing the start / timing and finish.

Unfortunately, our treasurer hunt was cancelled as there was not enough participants to make it viable. We will try and get this run earlier next year and hope to get more support.
On the 5th October father and son crew of Simon Wright & Thomas Wright headed up to North York Moors to take part in the Beaver Road Rally organised by Beverley & District Motor Club the event was the first outing for over 20 years for Simon, who had recently decided to drag his Peugeot S106 Rallye out of storage. It was the first ever event for Tom, so nerves were jangling and they felt well out of their depth once they arrived at Scrutineering! Luckily the event was all pre-plot and they decided to concentrate on the navigation side of things in order to pick up as many code boards as possible. For his first event Tom was cool under pressure and soon got to grips with the route with just one herringbone used which had them both stumped. They had some major over heating issues on the first two thirds of the route, but things settled down once they got to the petrol stop and the final third was more fun and they gained more confidence in the car as the temperature settled down. Total distance was 130 miles and BDMC did a fantastic job of putting together a great route, on smooth roads with no whites used, they came home with first clubman’s crew on their first event together and the car still in one piece, well done to you both.
Our next club night 12 car is 16th October organised by Paul Haylock, we have 8 experts and 1 beginner crews out taking part.
Followed by another Club Night 12 car on 13th November organised by Paul Smalley Contact Paul at : paul.smalley@kier.co.uk for entries and marshals, be there or be square.
Cheers
